About The Dutch Liberation 2020 Canadian Society

The Dutch Liberation 2020 Canadian Society was incorporated under the Societies Act of British Columbia, Canada on August 31, 2018.

History of Dutch Liberation 2020 Canadian Society

Representatives from the BC/Yukon Command of the Royal Canadian Legion, and members of various Dutch organizations in Canada including the Netherlands Association “Je Maintiendrai” – Dutch Network, the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Netherlandic Studies (CAANS) and the Dutch Business Club (DBC), Vancouver joined together and created this Society.

The Dutch Liberation 2020 Canadian Society is now in the planning stages of organizing a special celebration in Canada from April 2020 to July 2020 to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Netherlands by Canadian soldiers in 1945.

We have chosen the tulips ‘Canadian Liberator’ and ‘Strong Love’ to help raise awareness of the many sacrifices made by our soldiers, sailors, and airmen and to thank Canada for its contributions to end World War II in Europe.

Our goal is to plant as many red tulips across the country in cities, towns, villages, parks, and home gardens, to create an atmosphere of overwhelming thanks and appreciation of Canada and its veterans.

All tulip bulbs have sold out but we still accept your donation.

The Faces to Graves website at www.facestograves.nl tells the story of the project and gives details of how Canadian families can contribute to the endeavour to share the story of their loved one who died in World War II in the Netherlands. We encourage people to visit the Faces of Graves site and contribute memories and information of their loved ones who perished in the Netherlands during WWII.
